Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Underprivileged Support Program


About KLGU

The Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) is dedicated to promoting and supporting the growth of women’s golf in Kenya. Our mission is to foster the highest standards of the sport and to encourage participation across all levels, with a particular focus on juniors and underprivileged girls.

Underprivileged Girls Support Program

The Underprivileged Girls Support Program is an initiative aimed at providing essential support to young female golfers who face financial and other barriers to participation in the sport. This program is aligned with our strategic goals of Training & Development and Attraction of More Lady Players.


Purpose

The purpose of this program is to:

  • Identify and support underprivileged girls in the golf community.
  • Provide various forms of assistance to ensure their continued participation and development in golf.
  • Promote social skills and golf psychology through mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for support under this program, applicants must:

  1. Be fully registered members of KLGU or the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF).
  2. Be 21 years of age or younger.
  3. Demonstrate exceptional talent and skill in golf.
  4. Have a physical or mental disability, if applicable.
  5. Submit a formal application with necessary supporting documents.

Forms of Aid

Applicants can receive aid for the following:

  • Participation fees for tournaments
  • Golf attire and equipment
  • Membership fees
  • Travelling fees
  • Accommodation fees
  • Caddie fees
  • Mentorship on social skills and golf psychology

Application Process

  1. Notification: The KLGU Executive Council will inform Lady Captains about available opportunities.
  2. Submission: Applicants must submit a formal application to the Joint Secretary of the Executive Council.
  3. Interview: Applicants may be required to attend an interview conducted by a Sub-Committee.
  4. Approval: Approved applications will be forwarded by the Chairman to the Executive Council for final approval.
  5. Notification: Successful applicants will receive a formal letter outlining the details of the aid.

Required Documents

Applicants must provide:

  • ID/Birth Certificate/Passport
  • Passport Size Photo
  • Applicant Essay (demonstrating a sustainable plan for growth in golf)
